Tiger Kidnap Case Study
The client is a leading international group delivering a range of products and services via Retail Outlets.
The Challenge
A risk was identified by the Profit Protection department of an exposure, at Branch Manager level, to the risk of Tiger Kidnap. Whilst the client exposure had been present for some time there was no apparent solution available that would remove the threat of alerting the criminals to the presence of a security device, nor any solution that would proactively and covertly alert the emergency services, without intervention by a manager, raising concern of a potential kidnap situation and potentially compromising the safety of the manager and their family.
The Solution
Argyll’s specialised Lone Worker device has the look of a normal mobile phone, yet it contains an integrated mobile phone, SOS alert, impact sensor and GPS tracking unit. It is supported by a comprehensive risk management service ‘Procare’ and the secure Internet ‘track and trace’ service, ‘Seeker’.
How it Works
The device uses GPRS to send accurate GPS location information to Argyll’s servers at predetermined intervals providing a comprehensive historical trace of the device movements. The Procare service simultaneously interacts with the manager and manages their daily risk by ensuring that activities are closely monitored and confirmed as being safely completed.
An SOS function and impact sensor located within the device enables a distress signal or two way voice channel to be opened to Argyll’s state of the art BS5979 CATII, BS8484 and Secured By Design accredited Alarm Receiving Centre for monitoring, assessment and response. This means that in the event of an activation a full risk assessment can be made by BS7858 accredited personnel trained in tiger kidnap response protocols and acting within strict timescales. All device alerts, correspondence, event actions and voice communications to and from the ARC are digitally recorded and admissible as evidence in court.
The entire service also has in-built fail-safes that ensure data and service integrity. Local control and incident management can also be passed to senior managers or Response Teams via Argyll’s comprehensive and secure Internet services.
