Johnson Controls employee to cycle from Paris to Geneva to raise funds for cancer care charity
Thu 08 Jul, 2010It’s back on his bike for Andy Gray, UK & Ireland Service Operations Manager, who is planning to continue last years London to Paris ride by continuing the journey … this time from Paris to Geneva.
Once again Andy isn’t doing it for fun - he is doing it to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care charity and will need to train even harder than last year for the four day ride.
“Last years ride was certainly a challenge”, said Andy Gray, “but this year’s event promises to be even harder. Although I can now appreciate how much training and effort is required, it makes it all worthwhile when you know how much money my supporters have donated to charity”.
The route will take Andy along numerous rolling hills passing through the Burgundy and Jura regions. The route culminates riding up Col de la Faucille, a 1,232m climb that is used on the Tour de France. To put that in context, Ben Nevis – the highest mountain in the British Isles - is only112m higher.
Last year Andy’s final total was £2400 and he is hoping to beat this total this year. First though he needs to raise £1500 in sponsorship by mid June 2010 in order to take part in the event that sets off from Paris on 13th September. To raise additional funds, Andy is continuing metal recycling scheme where he will use any unwanted jewellery to further increase his funds for the charity. If you have use any old, broken or odd bits of gold and silver jewellery that you no longer want, please contact Andy Gray on +44 (0)7779 808186 or by email to andy.gray@jci.com Also watch out for special fundraising events and raffles which Andy will be organising over the coming weeks.
